More Than 2,300 People Receive Free Health Care Through Health Day

Santo Domingo, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC (October 26, 2019) . For the third year, the companies of the textile sector, HanesBrands and MD Industries, have joined in the organization of a health fair, on October 25 and 26, for the collaborators and family members of the MD Industries textile plant, located in the CODEVI industrial park, in Ouanaminthe, Haiti.
The objective of the initiative was to facilitate and expand health services to MD Industries employees and family members, as well as to transmit a culture of prevention and well-being. General medicine consultations and medicine delivery were carried out, according to the patients’ needs, attending a total of 1,688 adults and 710 children, with the assistance of 15 nurses and 30 doctors of Haitian nationality; as well as 20 Dominican doctors.
The health fair lasted two days, the first being for adults, and the second for children, where in addition to receiving consultations and medications, they enjoyed recreational activities with inflatable games, clowns, delivery of toys, kits of oral hygiene and a lot of fun.

Health is one of the axes of Hanes’ social responsibility program, which also focuses on areas such as caring for the environment and education. The company has a program of free surgery sessions in the Dominican Republic, held biannually, which has been recognized by various international organizations and awards. Through the surgical sessions, with the support of a volunteer team from Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Hanes has provided free surgeries to more than 1,000 people and medical care to more than 6,000 patients from different provinces of the Dominican Republic.
On the other hand, MD Industries as part of the M – Codevi Group, has focused its conviction on developing the border, an example of this is the third Health Conference held and a micro park where food services, ATMs are currently offered and GLP among others for a better life for employees and their families. “The perseverance, innovation and commitment of all of us is the achievement of our vision. Let’s spread optimism so that we can all be inspired by our work, ”were the words of Fernando Capellán on the 32nd anniversary of Grupo M.
With the vision and approach of Mr. Capellán, it has been extended to the Dominican-Haitian border, with the Codevi Industrial Park project, which has 15 industrial warehouses thus providing more than 12,000 formal jobs for this area of the country.
