A Day of Caring: Associates Make Lasting Impact on Winston-Salem Community
September 2025
Nearly 200 HBI associates spent their workday volunteering in the community, leaving a lasting impact on Winston-Salem, NC.
Caring for people is in our nature at HBI.
As part of our longstanding annual campaign with the United Way of Forsyth County, the Day of Caring is an opportunity for our associates to volunteer and uplift community partners in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Our 2025 Day of Caring turned a regular Thursday into a city-wide act of kindness, as nearly 200 associates from our headquarters lent a helping hand across seven local non-profit organizations, schools and partners, including The Parenting PATH, Cancer Services, and Carver High School.
From trimming trees to washing wheelchairs, our associates made a huge difference in the community.
Some highlights include:
- 67,000 wrapped diapers, covering 1,340 babies for The Diaper Bank of North Carolina
- 1,348 packed meals for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina
“Our volunteers embody what it means to be a community hero – fulfilling needs with compassion, courage and commitment,” Cheryl Lindsay, Director of Community Relations, said. “We are passionate about community-improvement projects and always enjoy bettering the city we call home.”
For more than 20 years, our Day of Caring has improved the lives of those in our community. We are incredibly proud of how we make a difference, and we encourage our associates to collectively achieve 100,000 volunteer hours per year. Read more on our People page.
