HBI El Salvador Joins Local Reforestation Efforts to Conserve Protected Natural Area
July 2025
More than 50 HBI volunteers contribute to the reforestation of the Chanmico Protected Natural Area located in San Juan Opico, El Salvador.
Since 2010, HBI has led long-term environmental initiatives focused on reforestation and community collaboration.
In partnership with the Environmental Committee of San Andrés Valley (CAESA), an organization that unites local businesses committed to sustainability, a reforestation event was carried out to help conserve the Chanmico Protected Natural Area, which provides habitats and refuges for wildlife.
Together with 15 participating companies, a total of 1,500 trees were planted during the activity, with HBI contributing approximately 300.
“Our efforts to foster a greener future grow stronger every day. Thanks to our associates and alliances, we are very proud of the impact we’ve made on our local community and ecosystem that continues to thrive and amplify,” said Mirna Rodriguez, Environmental, Health and Safety Manager – HBI El Salvador Textiles and Socks.
Comprehensive monitoring of the plants is conducted during their first three years to ensure proper growth. At HBI, it’s important we oversee that trees are not only planted – but also nurtured and protected for years after.
With more than 237,000 trees planted by HBI associates across the globe, our collective impact is both measurable and meaningful, contributing to healthier ecosystems and a more sustainable future.
At HBI, we are strengthening our relationship with nature and furthering our goal of our associates collectively achieving 100,000 volunteer hours per year. Learn more on our People page.
