HanesBrands Gathers Hundreds of Runners in the First Edition of its 5K Colors Run

Santo Domingo, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC (March 2, 2019) . Initiating the activities scheduled within its annual Social Responsibility plan, HanesBrands organized the 5K Colors Run HanesBrands 2019 , an activity that seeks to promote quality of life, well-being and the importance of sport on a daily basis.
In its first edition, the 5K Colors Run brought together a total of 300 participants, including employees and their families from the Bonao, Las Américas, Bali Dominicana and San Isidro plants. The run took place in the Botanical Garden, with which the company has an alliance through ECORED for the rescue of native species in danger of extinction: Project “Rescue of the Red List”.
The race had two categories, runners and walkers. The first place in the runners category was held by Luis Mcfall, materials planner for Hanes Caribe, who after 19 minutes and 50 seconds reached the finish line. Second and third place was reached by Juan Carlos Mejia, production supervisor for the Las Américas plant, in a time of 20 minutes and 05 seconds, and Alejandro Knipping, contractor manager for Hanes Caribe, with a time of 20 minutes and 54 seconds.
For the category of walkers, the first position was occupied by Freddy Vanderpool, and the second and third position, Rafael Novoa and Saxiel Novoa respectively, from the Dos Ríos plant.
The activity was chaired by Ricardo Pérez, VP of Operations at HanesBrands Caribe, who highlighted: “With this race, we start our 2019 volunteer program. We are very grateful to have your support and dedication in the Social Responsibility activities. Without a doubt, this Hanes 5K Colors Run is already part of our calendar as we are convinced that activities like this motivate us and drive us to continue promoting the well-being of our employees and the environment “
5K Colors Run HanesBrands joins the activities of “Hanes for Good” and “Happy, in the best place to work” comprehensive initiatives that promote well-being and quality of life among its more than 8,000 employees and the communities where Hanes is present . They include actions focused on the family, health care, the environment and the promotion of corporate volunteering.
In 2019, HanesBrands will continue to direct its efforts to flagship programs that are part of the company’s culture. Actions are already underway for the sixteenth free surgical day for the community, an action that will also take place this month. Additionally, HanesBrands remains firm in promoting activities focused on preserving the environment, promoting local development and relevant international alliances such as the one developed with Glasswing International, a project where students from communities near the production plants have access to extracurricular activities, as well as other programs for the benefit of Dominicans.
