HanesBrands Holds Education Fair for the Benefit of Employees and Their Families

SAN PEDRO SULA, HONDURAS (January 11, 2019) – HanesBrands, a leading company in the manufacture of everyday clothing, held its first educational fair with great success at its plants in the municipalities of Villanueva and Choloma. Information was provided about educational opportunities with technical institutes and universities with which the company has agreements and special prices for its collaborators. 

Eduardo Valerio, Regional Manager of Organizational Development for Central America and the Caribbean of HanesBrands, explained that the company has achieved negotiations for the benefit of Hanes employees in Honduras, including discounts on tuition and tuition from 10 to 50 percent. Additionally, the company and the institutions offer flexible work and study hours so that employees can attend their classes. 

“At HanesBrands we believe that education has the potential to change not only the lives of our employees, but that of their families and communities. Through our continuing education program, we are committed to seeking the best options for our associates to continue their academic preparation at the technical and university level, ”Valerio pointed out. 

The following participated in the fair: Central American Technological University, UNITEC; Technological University Center, CEUTEC; Universidad Jesús de Nazaret, UJN; New Millennium Evangelical Christian University, UCENM; Technological University of Honduras, UTH; HanesBrands Distance Education Technical Institute, ITED-HBI; Sampedrano Technical Institute; and the Technical Institute of Electronic Electricity, ITEE. 

Also in Choloma, there were the Mario Ugarte Institute and the Korea Technical Institute; while Villanueva was attended by the Néstor Danilo Amaya Institute and the Chamelecón Technical Institute. 

Hanes has been operating in Honduras for more than 27 years, and has in this country nine clothing and sewing plants for the manufacture of bras, sportswear, T-shirts, silk-screen printed garments and embroidered clothing where more than 10,000 Hondurans work, which represents more 15% of its workforce globally.
