HanesBrands Celebrates Happiness Week With its Employees

Wednesday, March 20, 2019

San Pedro Sula, HONDURAS (March 20, 2019) – As part of its commitment to permanent ties with its collaborators, HanesBrands carried out a series of activities at its plants in Honduras, El Salvador and the Dominican Republic to celebrate the International Day of Happiness which was held on March 20.

Hanes has developed an ambitious strategy to strengthen its work culture called “Happy in the best place to work” based on happiness and being positive, which is reflected in all the company’s social responsibility, productivity and internal communications programs. . This platform is based on five pillars: “Happy with my family”, “Happy with my income”, “Happy with my heart”, “Happy with my community” and “Happy with my development”, and under them all the organizational culture programs.

“For Hanes it is not only very important that our employees feel satisfied with their work environment, but that they become involved in their well-being and that of their colleagues by promoting positivism, teamwork, integrity and inclusion, which we consider them as elements that help to be happy in the workplace ”, indicated María Elena Sikaffy, Vice President of Human Resources for Central America and the Caribbean.

The happiness component, as a strategic pillar in the management of human resources, was incorporated by Hanes after the collaborators identified the feeling of happiness as one of the differentiating elements of the company, which served to be named as a one of the best companies to work for in Latin America by the Great Place to Work Institute.

As a socially responsible company, Hanes cares about the integral well-being of its employees, providing safe work environments and tools that allow the growth of their educational, social and technical skills so that they can be agents of change within their communities.

Hanes has operated in Honduras for more than 27 years, and has eight clothing and sewing plants in this country for the manufacture of bras, sportswear, T-shirts, silk-screen printed garments and embroidered clothing where more than 9,500 Hondurans work, which represents more 15% of its workforce globally.
