HanesBrands Delivers More Than 8,000 School Kits for Back to School

Santo Domingo, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC (August 1, 2019) . With the aim of strengthening institutional values and in coherence with its “Happy” organizational culture campaign, HanesBrands carries out its annual delivery of school kits for the children of its employees and communities close to the company’s production plants.
The initiative is part of the Hanes “Back to School” program, and has been running continuously since 2008, benefiting approximately 8,700 children between the ages of 3 and 18. School kits are made up of backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and other school supplies.
“The Back to Classes program, more than a benefit, I see it as a contribution from the company to the education of my children. And besides helping them, it encourages my children the values of the family and the care of the environment, giving them a beautiful activity where they can use their imagination. Of all the benefits I have as a Hanes contributor, Back to School is one of my favorites. I am very grateful to the company for thinking of me and my children, ”says Corina Milagros Méndez, one of the employees of the Las Américas plant.
Under the slogan “Super heroes committed to the environment”, the campaign encourages the children of its employees to be exemplary citizens and to take care of their planet. To make the dynamics more fun, painting days were also held, where the boys and girls drew their family members as superheroes who help take care of the environment. The winning drawings in the painting days of each floor become the covers of the notebooks included in the school kit.
The program, in addition to helping to reduce the expenses derived from the return to school of their sons and daughters, and to raise awareness about environmental care; it also promotes education, and motivates young people to identify themselves in the work of their parents and to project a prosperous future and of personal improvement.
